RPP FM proudly sponsored “Race 4 – The RPP FM Handicap over 2000 meters,” that ran at 14:10 on King’s birthday Monday – a significant milestone for our station, and for us and our listeners it was a special day of thoroughbred racing.

Touristic won by one and a quarter lengths from Vegas Knight and Cable Dancer third.
Jockey Jordan Childs told John Shore and Amy Campion from RPP Scrambled Eggs that the French bred horse had done well- and had surprised connections with its impressive form.
Touristic is trained locally by P and P Snowdon and according to the crew –took a shine to Scrambled Eggs host John Shore !!! [ We don’t quite know what that means ….?]

Our involvement in the event is the culmination of a series of broadcasts, wonderful conversations and partnerships put together by Scrambled Eggs host John Shore.
One memorable interview was with Amanda Clements from Catanach’s Jewelers in Armadale, the suppliers of the Cup for the Mornington Cup. Amanda, her team and the RPP crew clicked on air during our Mornington Cup Day 2023 coverage. This relationship continued into 2024, and during one of the chats, Amanda generously offered to donate a stunning trophy for our own race.

This impressive trophy will now be awarded to the winner of the RPP FM Handicap, and we are thrilled to have such a prestigious prize for our race. Additionally, check out our full-page advert in the race book and the 30-second ads on the big screen between races! We’re stoked.

Our ongoing commitment includes OBs at the Mornington Cup, Melbourne Cup weekend, New Year’s Day, and Easter Sunday. This exposure helps us connect with our community and share the love of racing and broadcasting. During our last OB, a young fan proudly wore an RPP cap he had received on a previous race day, a testament to the joy and connection we bring to our listeners.

So, from Monday June 10th, don’t miss the excitement as “They’re off” for the RPP FM Handicap. Watch the “Front Runners” as they hit the “Home Stretch,” and join the “Connections” celebrating this historic event. We look forward to seeing you there and making history together!
“Go you good thing!”
