The Mornington Peninsula Shire has won the top accolade in the ambition category at this year’s Climate Awards Ceremony.

The award recognises the “bold [and] detailed” proposals that the council has put forward in their “Ensuring our Future” Climate Emergency Plan.

Specifically, the council’s aim of reaching net zero emissions by 2040 was praised by the Cities Power Partnership for being “aligned with the science and outcome focused”.

Newly appointed Mayor of the Mornington Peninsula Shire, Anthony Marsh said the community should be really proud of what they have achieved so far.
