RPP GOES OFF GRID

RPP FM is embracing the sun and reducing its carbon footprint.

With the assistance of a Community Broadcast Foundation grant, oversight by the Shire and some generous work by Solahart and their installers CD Light Electrical, a 16-Kilowatt, 40 panel solar array is now safely installed at RPP’s Wilsons Road headquarters.

With the system now up and running Station Manager Brendon Telfer said, “This has been a five-year campaign and at last Solahart has stepped up to help us realise our dream of getting solar happening. Years ago former RPP Treasurer John Fraser floated the idea, and we are delighted that we can now deliver.”

Gerard Clarke of Solahart says his company takes great pride in assisting the community ” its terrific to get this job done for RPP -we’ve been with them all the way – every little bit helps and we pride ourselves on overseeing our work, from inception to delivery and then we set clients up with an app which gives them 24/7 access to their system and savings.’

Conscious that RPP is a not-for-profit Charlie Stayner and his team of installers at CD Light Electrical got the job done in record time.

The recent good weather has also given the station something to smile about – every moment the sun shines – RPP is reducing its carbon footprint and reducing its electricity bill.

“We’re winning ,its fantastic’ says Brendon.

‘ Watch out – with the savings in utility costs we’ll be punching out more awesome programmes.”
