Neds Mornington Cup Day goes ahead without spectators

The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) continues to take considered action to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of MRC members, patrons, participants and staff through this unprecedented Coronavirus (covid-19) crisis affecting the nation.

The Victorian State of Emergency declaration enforces the cancellation of mass gatherings above 500 people.

Melbourne Racing Club racecourses (Caulfield, Sandown and Mornington) will continue to proceed without spectators, horse owners and other people deemed to be non-essential to the operation of a race day for the foreseeable future.

Neds Mornington Cup Day on Saturday 21 March will proceed without spectators. General admission pre-purchased ticket holders will receive a full refund. Hospitality clients will be offered credit or refund.

Furthermore, in an effort to protect industry participants, public attendance at trackwork and jump outs at MRC venues will also be closed for the foreseeable future. MRC appreciates the public’s understanding in what is an unprecedented situation. When new information or guidance on the running of our events is available the Club will communicate this as quickly as possible.

MRC apologises for the disappointment this will cause, however the safety of our members, patrons, industry participants and staff remains paramount.
