The Mornington Peninsula Shire is inviting everyone to come together on Australia Day and enjoy the celebrations across the Peninsula with live music, entertainment, children’s activities, fireworks, food and more planned for 2020.

Events will be held at Mornington Park; Dromana, Hastings and Rye foreshores; Mount Eliza and Rosebud Villages Greens; Sorrento Bowls Club and Sorrento-Portsea RSL, each with its own unique flavour and attractions.

The Shire-run event at Mornington Park will this year feature Kate Ceberano live on stage, while the kids will go crazy for Nickelodeon’s PAW Patrol featuring appearances by Marshall, Chase, Skye and Rubble.

Shire Mayor Sam Hearn said Australia Day was a time to reflect on what it means to be Australian and to recognise and celebrate the values that we share.

“On Australia Day we celebrate the things we love about our country and recognise the contributions of all Australians.

“It’s also a day to acknowledge our country’s history, from the recent past to the ancient traditions and culture of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.”

Australia Day ambassadors (to be announced) will be joining the celebrations at each location thanks to the Australia Day Ambassador Program, which appoints high-achieving Australians who provide inspiration and pride to the events and activities.
