Inside the Piano: School Holiday Discovery Workshop
Our friends out at Bernies Music Land always have plenty of exciting, fun and rewarding events for musicians from the novice to the internationally noted. One of their regular and most popular workshops lifts the lid on the grand piano.
Piano students and their families are invited to come and discover how pianos work. Yes, we know, you hit a key and it makes a sound – but what a sound, and what a wonderful confluence of engineering, materials and art to deliver that beautiful note.
Why do they go out of tune? Why are they all different in their own way?
See inside the intricate grand piano action as you touch and explore piano components to learn how this wondrous instrument makes sound.
Discover a whole new understanding of what actually happens when you push your fingers down on piano keys, and consider how your body reacts to the sound the piano makes.
This workshop is ideal for students from age 5 up, as well as teachers and music professionals.
It will provide with plenty of insights, and perhaps enough inspiration to be the next piano master!
Presented by Lester Cheung (Master of Music, Monash University) the workshop runs for one hour including question time and notes.
The session is followed by free refreshments.
