On Wednesday 22 May we had a chat during the breakfast show with Jess Schubert-Hoban, manager of the Mt Eliza Farmers’ Market. We talked about local food production, supporting our region’s farmers and the great community atmosphere at our local famers’ markets.
The Mt Eliza Farmers’ market is on the fourth Sunday of every month (rain, hail or shine) from 9am–1pm. It’s centred around the village green at the corner of Canadian Bay Road and Mt Eliza Way.
The market is a dedicated food market—part of the Victorian Farmers Market Association—which sets high standards for market stall holders.
At the market you’ll find food producers of all kinds: fresh fruit and vegetables; meats, fish and farm fresh eggs; bread and baked goods; olives, honey and cheeses—and much more. All produced here in Victoria.
The market is an initiative of the Mt Eliza Chamber of Commerce and was started to bring weekend visitors to the village. On market days many of the local cafes, boutiques and shops open to support the market.
The market usually includes music and activities to keep your kids entertained.
