When Mt Eliza Bowling Club got in touch with their local Bendigo Bank branch to say they needed a new defib unit, the Mt Eliza branch was very happy to oblige. The club’s members are great supporters of their local branch. Many are loyal customers, and they help to steer business its way.

The new unit had been in the club room for only a few days before it had to be put to use to revive a visiting player. Thankfully, the patient is now on the mend. But it was the quick thinking and skills of the bowling club members, and their access to the new defib unit that saved the day.

“It was a very humbling illustration for us of the value our community contributions,” said Alex Godfrey from the Mt Eliza Bendigo Bank branch, “and it’s our customers who make these sort of contributions possible”.

The region’s Bendigo Community Bank® branches returned around $1.3 million to peninsula communities last year. In addition to the support of local clubs, schools and community groups, Bendigo Bank keeps money here in our local economy, driving jobs and growth.

The Mt Eliza branch was also sponsor of the Mt Eliza Bowling Club’s 2019 Community Bowls Challenge, which wrapped-up with the season finals in late March. The team from Masterworx Painting and Decorating won the coveted pelican trophy.

This hugely popular local competition opens the club up to teams from local businesses and groups who are new to the sport of lawn bowls.
