Local radio station RPPFM is asking the community to help drive their fundraising and membership campaign by joining their fun car rally.
RPPFM offers training in radio broadcasting where members can learn the fine art of radio broadcasting, learn how to do podcasts, meet new people and get involved in the community.
Brendon Telfer, RPPFM Station Manager said, “Radio is great for all ages and encourages millennials and retirees and everyone in between to get behind the microphone and start talking!”
All new members will receive a bumper sticker and are encouraged to stick it somewhere prominent and send their photos to the RPPFM facebook page – the campaign is called – Show the Love-Share the Love! Call RPPFM 03)5975 1234 or download the membership form from the website.

Join the Car Rally on Sunday October 7 from 9am (for a staggered start) drivers and their navigators will leave from RPPFM’s studios at 91 Wilsons Rd, Mornington collecting clues and solving puzzles as they take in the picturesque sights of the Mornington Peninsula.

The car rally finishes at The Red Hill Baker of Balnarring where participants can enjoy lunch and jazz while the entries are tallied, and prizes will be awarded.
Phil Johnson, RPPFM Fundraising Committee member said, “RPPFM needs to raise funds to keep the station on air – we need more members and we think cars and the radio go together perfectly! You don’t need to be a member to get involved in the rally – but our goal is to drive up our membership!”

Rally contestants will be given a kit that includes a bumper sticker, question sheet and will need to listen to RPPFM 98.7FM for live clues on air to complete the course.  Just $50 per car and the aim is to raise $5000 for RPPFM to help the station stay on the air and raise funds for much needed equipment and maintenance. To register call Pam on 0409 831 110 or download the registration form from the RPPFM website.

Description of the upcoming rally reminds me of the early 1960s. ‘The Greater 3UZ’ ,a Melbourne commercial radio station located near the Windsor Hotel Bourke St, used to have ‘keymania’ broadcasting clues for a kind of treasure hunt for car drivers.
