Saturday March 10 saw the final home and away round and provided the usual twists and turns as the final fours were set.
The RPP FM Bendigo Community Bank Match of the Day focused on Main Ridge and Red Hill. Red Hill batted first and lost early wickets before Riley Shaw and Tom Collett led a recovery that saw the “Hillmen” compile 158.Ollie McEncroe led the bowling with 3/35. Main Ridge coach Nick Jewell set up the Ridge’s run chase with 65 and the final victory was hit home by Gareth Wyatt with 39 not out and 3 overs to spare. The semi finals will see Main Ridge play Long Island and Flinders host Moorooduc.
In Provincial, Langwarrin finished the season as clear leaders with the bowlers dominating the Mornington bats. They will host Mornington again in the semi final, while local rivals Mt Eliza and Peninsula Old Boys will play in the other semi final.
District provided some great battles with Craig Entwistle leading the way for Baden Powell with a well compiled 85. Their win confirmed that Rye would be relegated. They play Mt Martha-who again pulled off a last minute win over Rosebud in a low scoring affair. Seaford play Heatherhill in the other final.
In Sub District, Carrum Downs won the cut throat game against Boneo to take fourth place and will match up against Dromana. Carrum defeated Tootgarook and will now host against the Toot’ Frogs in next weeks semi.
