Local Cricket Update: Boneo bash into top spot

The Bendigo Bank cricket broadcast covered the great Flinders v Moorooduc match in Peninsula division. Moorooduc batted first to post 9 for 201 built around a superb 89 by Paddy De Mel. The ‘ducs were in trouble at 8-128 but  they posted 70 in the last 70 overs. Flinders chipped away at the total and got ahead in the final over with Shane Beggs turning back the click with 95 not out. The win lifts Flinders to second with the top two sides Main Ridge and Long Island both losing. Bottom sides Delacombe Park and Somerville both scored wins as the competition heats up.
In Provincial division, Langwarrin move to top spot with a win over Peninsula Old Boys. Andy Johnson led the run chase with a fine 80. Sorrento won over Baxter and wins to Mornington and Mt Eliza has the top 4 stretching their lead.
In District division, top two teams Mt Martha and Baden Powell lost to Rosebud and Seaford respectively. Now 7 of the 8 teams are in the race for the finals.
In Sub District division, Boneo registered 246 thanks to 121 not out from Chris Jobling and 57 from 30 balls from Cam Williams. They turned that into a much needed percentage boost and secured top place. Tootgarook and Dromana recorded great wins to remain second and third. Tyabb were replaced in the four by Carrum Downs after their win over early favourites Balnarring.
