The final day of cricket before the Christmas break saw some enthralling matches. In sub district grade the RPP Bendigo Bank Match of the Day was a battle between second placed Carrum Downs and third placed Tootgarook.
Carrum Downs had posted a competitive 197 the previous week, but it was the Tootgarook Frogs who held sway. A hard hitting 66 from Travis French and a match winning 84 from Scott Sterling guided Tootgarook to be top of the ladder at the break. The biggest result in this grade came from Tyabb who started the day at 7 for 44 chasing YCWs 153. The Yabbies got up with a wicket in hand thanks to 75 not out from Joel Wylie.
In Provincial cricket, Peninsula Old Boys comfortably chased down Sorrento’s 192 with Dylan O’Malley taking charge with a sparkling 92.
POB hold top position going into the break.
Mornington and Langwarrin played out a tie at 263 each.
Peninsula division has Main Ridge clear on top after defeating Red Hill. Luke Collins was the key bowler with 6 for 47.
The next broadcast will be the Ben Oates Benefit between POB and Pearcedale on January 6. Happy Holidays!
