The RPP Bendigo Bank Match of the Day saw finals contenders in District Grade Tyabb and Frankston YCW face off on a fast Tyabb ground, the bowlers held sway. YCW batted first and soon slumped to 5 for 55 following a fine spell of bowling from Captain Joel Wylie. A late innings rally led by young 17 year old Callum Bradford-Briggs with an enterprising 40 not out lifted YCW to 155 all out. But with 26 overs to face, Tyabb were soon in trouble. Veteran seam bowler Andrew Kitson ripped through the top order of Tyabb to record 6 for 14 including a hat trick. Tyabb were reeling at 7 for 44 at stumps
In other games, the replay of last year’s grand final saw Baxter in dominant form against Mt Eliza. Chris Brittain had a devastating spell of 5 for 11 as Mt Eliza crashed to be all out for 110. Baxter has a first innings lead with 3 for 139 at stumps. Master batsman Daniel Warwick picking up an undefeated 61. Mornington’s Matt Foon scored a second century on the trot as Mornington plundered Langwarrin to reach 265.
Next week we head to Carrum Downs as Tootgarook attempt to chase 197.
