The Red Hill Baker at Balnarring is the place where discerning food, art and jazz lovers go to have their needs fulfilled.
The brainchild of Ray Johns, this colourful establishment is a local institution and perfectly positioned on Frankston-Flinders Rd to provide early morning coffees for tradies while offering the finest fresh made, local and imported food.
The deli invites you in with its exciting range of mouth-watering products including jams and chutneys, cheeses of every kind and the perfect cracker to go with your favourite cheese. Got a sweet tooth – then you will be spoilt for choice with the range of homemade chocolates and ice-creams to die for!
Of course, this all depends on making it through the café that offers an amazing range of daily fresh baked pies, sausage rolls, pasties, quiche, frittatas and muffins! And if you love a lamington-you won’t be disappointed! You’ll also find fresh made rolls and a modern selection of salads (Vietnamese, Lentil, Pumpkin) as well as coffee and tea and local wines are served. And if you are searching for a gift the florist tucked beside the deli has beautiful floral gifts and plants sure to bring a smile.
Picnics can be catered for as well as home catering for a special occasion – just ask Ray or any of his friendly and helpful staff.
You can also pick up delicious hampers for the ideal gift for those with a discerning palate. Talking about palettes, the art work adorning the walls of the café is for sale by locals and offers a range of subjects from sailing, to jazz to still life – a special gift just waiting to be snapped up.
Sundays are reserved for jazz and visitors will be blown away by the deep pool of local talent that regularly hits the stage to perform well known Dixieland and contemporary jazz hits. Look out for their Singing Barista who loves to belt out an Ella Fitzgerald song along with a latte!
Ray says a new program will be available soon for 2018.
Take your friends and be sure to say “Hi” to Ray Johns. The Red Hill Baker at Balnarring hits the right note for a memorable experience.
