Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt has launched a national suicide prevention scheme at the RPP FM studios in Mornington.
Speaking with Ellice Viggers the Minister pledged $961,000,000 Federal funding to help underwrite a national awareness program across community radio .
The Community Radio Network has 450 stations across Australia with an estimated listening audience of 5.3 million people.
The program consists of a monthly series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking and positive lifestyle choices, as well as produce profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.
The focus on the program is on youth suicide prevention and will run over the next two years.
