Brendon Telfer with Peter and Catie talk to Pam, a RPP listener who is having real trouble making sense of the government’s national disability service scheme so we have Peter and Catie in the studio to answer her questions. Also on the program this week is the Lancet British Medical Research Unit that reports one in three cases of dementia can be potentially prevented, great news for 410,000 in Australia who suffer from this and if the research is right 100,000 suffers are in a much better place now due to this research. We will be talking to Bernadette Mislead from Alzheimer’s Australia, who is committed to the prevention of dementia, valuing and supporting people living with dementia.
Special guest this week is Dr Kim Van Orden, University of Rochester, New York, who focuses on the prevention of late life suicide. he recently talked at the Suicide Prevention conference held in Brisbane in July 2017.
