Aboriginal healing circle totem pole

Totem poles are a unique feature at Somers Arts Fair. The one pictured above was crafted by Andrew Bell. His talented work is a taste of amazing, quirky artworks available at auction.

Pictured left is Kylie Armstrong’s Aboriginal healing circle totem pole as described –

“A traditional tool used by Aboriginal Women for gathering bush foods.  Local Aboriginal Women as part of a Family Violence healing circle sculpted and created this beautiful ‘digging stick’.

Now in its 14th year, this unique event on the Mornington Peninsula is the only event of its kind that unites the festivity of a fair with an exhibition and auction of the rich and diverse art of the Peninsula.

The classrooms and school grounds of the Somers Primary School are transformed into a fantastic arena of children’s activities, music, food and market stalls, as well as a dedicated exhibition space filled with art by prominent, collectable and emerging artists. A live art auction of selected pieces will commence at 2pm including totem poles, sculptures and paintings including pieces by award winning artists.

It’s a wonderful day out with the family so come down this Sunday, 23 October to Somers Primary School 10am – 5pm.
