Tony Barber with the effervescent Judy Banks-Phillips

Mr Dapper himself, Mr Tony Barber skipped into the RPP FM studios this week as a guest on Bob & Judy’s program – Sugar n’ Spice.

The singer and dancer got his break as the game show host of The Great Temptation when Reg Grundy spotted him as the ‘whistler’ on the Cambridge cigarette ad.

The rest is history.

Tony has a long association with the Mornington Peninsula as a Cadet at Cerberus in the 1950’s, played football for Red Hill and now calls the seaside township of Flinders home.

Bob and Judy asked Tony about past incidents in television and relationships with other TV personalities. One of them was Dancing with the Stars. He said convincingly “The show was a lot of work – I’d been warned but did realize it would be that hard to put my right foot in front of my left foot.”

These days Tony enjoys the company of his family including 15 step grand children and enjoys a round of golf on the Flinders Golf Course with a handicap of 15.

Say hi to Tony if you see him down the main street of Flinders and tell him you heard him on the Sugar n’ Spice program.

Listen to interviews with other TV personalities and entertainers on Sugar n’ Spice with Bob Phillips and Judy Banks-Phillips every Thursday 9-11am.
