Berisha is the 2016 Mornington BMW Cup winner!

An estimated crowd of over 8,500 watched the 4YO gelding win the golden Cup on a blessed sunny afternoon at the Mornington Racing Club on the weekend.

He was slow out of the barrier for the running of the 2400m listed race and came home by a short nose.

Described as a ‘gentleman’ with a stubborn streak, Berisha automatically goes straight in the running of the Caulfield Cup in this year’s Spring Carnival.

Jockey Daniel Moor said, “He was a gentleman today and gave me no grief. He was a little slow out of the barrier but I knew he had a chance to win the big one. I was just the ‘pip on the pumpkin’ and let him be the boss.”

Moor started his long association with Smerdon as an apprentice and is hoping he can enjoy the continued journey on the back of Berisha.
