The City of Frankston Bowling Club hosted the Peninsula Bowls Division Grand Final. In Division 1, Karingal Bowling Club and Mornington Civic played on The Show Green and in Division 5, Frankston RSL played off against Karingal on C Green.
It was alleged that the Show Green was running at 14.1 secs and C Green at 15 secs.
Champion bowler and presenter of the RPP FM Bowling Around The Peninsula program Pam Dind and her commentary team arrived early at the City of Frankston Bowling Club to broadcast the build up of the finals day to the humming of mowers and a roller grooming the greens. The air was misty with the faint noise of people chatting in anticipation of an exciting day of competition bowling.
The Venue looked magnificent and by 11.30am the players arrived and gathered on the greens to feel, test and analysis their state.
Excited spectators arrived, gradually building up to 200 around the two greens to watch their players compete for the flag.
Music played across the venue with official announcements and those in attendance stood for the National Anthem.
Then the games began.
The winning clubs on the day are as follows:
Div 1 Karingal 103 def Mornington Civic 69
Div 2 Karingal 110 def Mornington 82
Div 3 Somerville 73 def City of Frankston 68

Div 5 Frankston RSL 71 def Karingal 67
Div 6 City of Frankston 77 def Somerville 70

As bowlers came off the greens after a great day of bowling, they made their way to the club house where the President of the Peninsula Bowls Division, Geoff Hooper presented medallions to the Grand Final winners. The PBD provided light refreshments.
Other PBD Grand Finals were played at Mt. Eliza Bowling Club and Frankston RSL. The last Pennant game was held due to the closure of the greens to make way for car parking. Other venues used included Koo Wee Rup, a small club with one synthetic green.
