Seaford winners after MPCA break

The 2015/16 MPCA season returned this weekend after the Christmas break. Seaford and Delacombe were one of the first matches played on the weekend in a battle at Seaford to stay in touch with the top four.

Delacombe Park were in trouble early losing their most prolific batsmen in the first overs.

cricket2It was left to Shane Deal to resurrect the innings with a fine 71. But Delacombe’s 147 wasn’t enough with Seaford overhauling the total with several overs to spare.

Faisal Payenda, with a hard hitting 55, received the Mornington Lager Performance of the Day accolade, sponsored by Mornington Peninsula Brewery and RPP FM cricket commentator Neil Williams.cricket

In other games, Baxter came from a tough position to overhaul Mornington’s 142 with the Brittain brothers combining a 70 run partnership.

Sorrento lost to Long Island as Nick Jewel announced his retirement and Peninsula Old Boys remain two games clear on top.

Next Saturday RPP FM match round is Crib Point v Baxter at 2pm plus
