The passing of Nancy

It is with regret we announce the passing of a wonderful woman early this month who was part of the RPP FM family for many years.

Nancy Jaboor graced the corridors of the local station she’d been part of since September 1987.  When she first came to RPP FM she was one of the main presenters with a feminist program Making Waves.  In the early 90s she presented Nancy Jaboor’s Opera Program.

Talented Nancy doing what she loved

Over the years Nancy introduced the RPP FM audience to a wide spectrum of classical music from opera, ballet to classical orchestral music.  One of her favourite artists was opera singer, David Hobson, whom she saw when he was a young fledgling artist at the Arts Centre in Melbourne.  Her knowledge of opera music and also opera performers was vast and she could always be relied upon to find interesting aspects of her much loved pass time – Opera.  She was also a great patron of opera films presented at the Rosebud Cinema and persuaded many of her listeners to join her.

Nancy continued to present her program until a couple of years ago when her health began to fail.  However, that didn’t prevent her from listening every week together with her friend, Edna Nemecek and keep an eye on the current presenters to ensure they were up to her ‘standard’.

Here’s to you Nancy! You will be missed by your family of friends at RPP FM and also to your listeners of many years.
