The Elements music band will represent the Mornington Peninsula region in the upcoming 2016 FreeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands Grand Final line up to be held in Stonnington.

RPP FM was there to capture the moment ‘live’ as a national broadcast first for the local radio station on Friday, 21 August at the Peninsula Community Theatre.

The Elements two piece band members Dylan Walker (vocals/guitar) and Oscar Wycisk (guitar) from Dromana and Tootgarook formed their band early 2014. Their first public appearance was on stage at the 2014 Mornington Main Street Festival and later at the 2014 Rosebud Buckfest winning the U14’s category.

The talented teenagers write their own original material and selected covers and are very excited and proud to represent the Peninsula region in The Push Start Battle of the Bands Grand Final to be held in March 2016 during the Moomba Festival.

With assistance from the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Youth Services team and Youth Worker Jackie Rickard, the night was deemed a success.

Other locals bands who participated in the competition included The Illusionals, LuVibe, End Hope, Break the Lines, Shmegma and Jebusology who performed their own material and played songs by Nirvana & Oasis to name a few.

The audience clapped and danced in the aisle – a great time was had by all.

The competition attracted young people under the age of 21 who live, work or go to school on the Peninsula. The event is alcohol, drug and smoke free and fully supervised.

Ms Rickard wishes to thank the IMPAKT FreeZA Committee and the Mornington Peninsula Shire Youth Services for organizing the event and local judges Steve, Andrea, Simon and Damien from Live Music Office for their continued support.

Congratulations to the bands for their great efforts, displaying their music skills and potential. All bands were winners on the night!

Thank you to the RPP FM presenters, Mitch and his crew, Mark and Terry, and RPP FM volunteers who work behind the scenes to get the event live to air on 98.7FM & 98.3FM Frankston. The broadcast was also streamed live from the rppfm.com.au website and heard on the RPP FM APP.
