Pythons squeeze energy from Tigers

0

Hyped punters took the day off eating chocolate eggs to watch the Easter Saturday clash at the Eric Bell Reserve between Frankston Pines Pythons and their rival team Seaford Tigers.

RPP FM footy commentator Michael ‘Vossy’ Voss returned to the commentary box for another year with his buddy Brent Clinnick to broadcast the action live.

After Vossy surveyed food vendors around the ground reporting to the boys how good the tucker is at local footy grounds, the game was underway.

Both teams went hard in the first round with hopes of a close competition after finishing 7th & 8th on the 2014 Peninsula League ladder.

The recruitment of ex-Richmond AFL Forward Aaron Edwards to the Pines Club in September 2014 taking the No. 27 guernsey, has injected a level of professionalism and structure to the club, needed to draw crowds and members to games.

After the first bounce to kick off the PFNL 2015 season the scores didn’t remain level for long with Seaford booting the first point.

Scores didn’t head in favour of the Tigers but the team seemed to sort out their game- play with a marginal 20 point deficit at the end of the third quarter.

The last deciding quarter revealed the strength of the Pythons as Edwards kicked his team to victory shielded by his team mates while Seaford looked tired, peaking in the third.

Frankston Pines new coach Patty Swayn, who is thought to have the ‘smarts’ to lead his new team to the 2015 Peninsula League Grand Final was happy with the results of the first round draw, putting his coaching skills to practice – a great win to start the season!
