Down at Jones Road Oval in Somerville, the RPP FM Match of the Day, brought to you by Mornington & Rosebud Testra Stores saw the Eagles home team bring on an exciting 26 point win against Red Hill in the Nepean Football Netball League on the weekend.
With the scores dead level at the 2nd & 3rd quarter siren, it was no telling which team would bring home the bacon.
Red Hill were excited to have key forwards Matthew Vagg and Michael Chaplin flex their muscle against a team supported by a fast and furious Eagles team.
Somerville didn’t boot any numbers on the Rye Hotel Scoreboard at the end of the first quarter with Red Hill boasting a 4. 2 26 score but the half time and 3rd quarter time scores told a different story with both teams displaying ‘even steven’ numbers – 5.2 32 and 7.8 50.
The Half Time Footy Wrap-up show, brought to you by the Heritage Tavern Balnarring, provided details of other scores around the grounds and a dissection of game play of the RPP FM Match of the Day.
It wasn’t to be the ‘Hillmen’s day kicking only 2 points, the first being at the 21 minute mark of the 28 minute final quarter.
The Somerville boys had a double celebration with their second win for the season under their wing and the football club’s Past Players Day.
Number 29 Eagle, Adrian Speedy (and ex- Mornington player) was awarded the Best on Ground trophy by Michael ‘Vossy’ Voss, proudly sponsored by ProVendor – Keeping Agents Honest.
The RPP FM Match of the Day live commentary was called by Toe Punt with the help of Brent Clinnick and Vossy who provided game statistics.

Then it was back to the RPP FM studios for After the Siren Footy Show for a postmortem of the games played throughout the Nepean and Peninsula Football Netball Leagues, proudly brought to you by Rising Sun Capital Group.
