Steeped in tradition with all the funfare surrounding the 100th commemoration of the ANZAC Day, the RPP FM Match of the Day didn’t disappoint loyal footy spectators on the weekend.

Mt Eliza Mighty Redlegs took on the Mornington Bulldogs in a blockbuster with Michael ‘Vossy’ Voss and Brent Clinnick broadcasting the action live from the Emil Marsden Oval.

Under grey skies and slippery conditions, the weather made the contest tough with level pegging results from teams equaling 2. 2 14 a piece at the end of the first quarter on the Rye Hotel Scoreboard.

In the 2nd quarter with rain easing and a heavy ball slowing down play, the leap frog effect kept scores low and tight uncanningly leveling at 4.3.27 at the end of the quarter on the Rye Hotel Scoreboard.

The weekly Half Time Footy Wrap-up show, brought to you by the Heritage Tavern Balnarring, provided details of other scores around the grounds and a dissection of game play of the RPP FM Match of the Day.

The Redlegs finally turned the game around in their favour in the 3rd quarter with the scores reaching 7.6 48 to Mornington 4.7 31.

It wasn’t to be the Bulldog’s big forwards day, tiring in the second half of the match. Vossy said the team had not made use of their opportunities whereas Mt Eliza, left no room for error.

Even though Vossy and Brent backed Mornington to win the match, proof was in the play with scores resulting on the Rye Hotel Scoreboard:

Mt Eliza   9.6 60
Mornington 6.9 45

RPP FM’s Best on Ground and receiver of the ANZAC Medal was Redlegs player Rohan Heasley presented by Brent Clinnick. The Best on Ground is proudly sponsored by Eliza Meats, Mt Eliza.

Special ‘Football Mentions’ during the match was brought to you by Abacus Learning Centre, Hastings – Achieving with Autism.

Then it was back to the RPP FM studios to broadcast After the Siren Footy Show detaling games played throughout the Nepean and Peninsula Football Netball Leagues, brought to you by Rising Sun Capital Group.
