RPP FM shine with stars at PSFF

Again, RPP FM stepped it up another notch to produce another outstanding, entertaining Outside Broadcast, live from the annual Peninsula Short Film Fest on the Rosebud Village Green on the weekend.

Presenters Jacki Mitchell of RPP FM’s Taking Care of Business program, Heather Miles of Mornings with Heather Mc and Sally Baillieu of Arts About interviewed all six judges on the night including Michala Banas (from Upper Middle Class Bogan), Samuel Johnson (Secret Life of Us, Crackerjack and Radio Presenter), Lachy Hulme (Offspring, Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War), Nadine Garner (Water Rats, City Homicide), Jane Hall (Actress and Radio Presenter) and Andrew Mason (Producer Water Diviner and the Matrix).

Included in the exciting line-up of interviews was film industry royalty and Peninsula Short Film Fest patron Fred Schepisi OA, who is an Australian film director, producer and screenwriter which credits include The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, Plenty, Roxanne, Six Degrees of Separation and Last Orders. Then short film finalists were placed behind the microphone.

Winners on the night as follows:

Best Screen Play – Noddy by Ben Plazzer & Ann Murison
Best Actor – Kai Smythe in Loving Myself
Best Director – Mark & Brett Nichols in Washed Up
Best Cinematography – The First Stone by Rach Moor-Chantry & Andrew Tomazos

1ST PRIZE OF $5,000 – NODDY BY BEN PLAZZER & ANN MURISON
2ND PRIZE OF $2,500 – LOVING MYSELF BY KAI SMYTHE
3RD PRIZE OF $1,250 – PALINDROMES BY NICHOLAS COLLA

There were also three new categories included in the 2015 PSFF 2015 program – Best Animation, Best Documentary and the Woodleigh School Emerging Filmmaker Award.

Local resident and Festival Director Steve Bastoni, one of Australia’s most versatile and accomplished actors and creator of the Peninsula Short Film Fest was thrilled with the response and high standard talented filmmakers who presented their masterpieces to a huge audience.

Local personality Tania Zaetta MC’d the night and Mayor Cr Bev Colomb welcomed the audience.
