RPP FM social media pages went crazy reaching thousands on Saturday as the ‘Blues at the Briars’ was broadcast live from Mt Martha.
The reach surpassed all expectations and targets on RPP FM facebook, twitter and instagram as Blues fans were treated to an all Australian Premier Blues Event ‘Blues at the Briars’ festival.
RPP FM was there to cover the action in a 12 hour ‘live to air’ marathon.
The natural amphitheatre set among the rolling hills of The Briars in Mt Martha produced quality sound.
RPP FM Production Manager, Steve Meyers commented on the amazing clarity of the live broadcast and Station Manager Brendon Telfer said, “RPP FM has come along way with multi back-up systems in place and we even have a generator in the new RPP FM Outside Broadcast Van.”
Pete Smedley & Ange Robinson, two of the station’s increasingly popular presenters of The Breakfast Scoop (and Ange with her program Far Out! It's Friday), hosted the main stage providing variety and entertainment, working the crowd beautifully.
Ray Reid, RPP FM Blues Legend who presents Blues Shack program on RPP FM also hosted the live broadcast during the day describing it as a ‘ripper event’ with highly professional and well-acclaimed Blues artists performing.
Ray said it was worth noting that Australian Blues bands are influenced by other music genres which is part of their wider music repertoire, which in turn makes Australian Blues music stand alone.
Festival Directors, Rob & Minx Ramsay both agree that Blues at the Briars, now in it’s third year, attract top quality, international standard Blues performers such as local Mr Black and Blues, Lazy Eye and well celebrated Blues Band Zevon & the Werewolves of Melbourne. The festival gathers momentum every year. “Blues artists love playing at the Briars and want to be part of the Blues festival, said Rob. Minx summed up the day stating, “Great team – great vibe”.
During the afternoon, the live broadcast crossed live to RPP FM Match of the Day at Belacombe Park with cricket commentator Neil Williams who updated local cricket action and scores.
Of course, this is all possible because of the professional, dedicated team behind RPP FM. Mr Telfer, who is always proud his crew said, “A huge congratulations on another monster OB, 12 hours is awesome and particular thanks to Steve and Ray who completed the entire Blues at the Briars shift!”
Also a big thanks to Pete & Ange and others who worked behind the scenes to cover an event now sewn into the fabric of great events on the Peninsula. And how about the look of the new Outside Broadcast Van! It’s fantastic to broadcast from – just terrific!
For your dose of Blues listen every Monday at 9pm on RPP FM’s Blues Shack program presented by passionate Blues Legend Ray Reid.
