RPP AGM reveals strong position ahead

The RPP FM Annual General Meeting was held over the weekend in the BlueScope Studios with members, presenters and RPP FM management in attendance.

RPP FM President Graeme Kniese opened proceedings thanking everyone for making our local community radio station the success it is today and taking it to the ‘next level’. Graeme also commented on the new Outside Broadcasting van which is constantly in use, taking the RPP FM studios to local communities and was pleased to announce the attraction of new sponsors and thanked corporate sponsors for their continued support.

Station Manager, Brendon Telfer acknowledged the hard work volunteers put in to make this station what it is today. He remarked on the successful business model that is attracting corporate sponsorship, the new look media kit, improvements to the transmitting towers on Arthurs Seat to increase the reach of our signal, the installation of new technology that will see the station enter into the digital age and the improvements and variety of programs whether they be spoken word, news, interviews or music.

“We are moving ahead in a very competitive market and the year ahead promises to be entertaining, challenging and fun”, Mr Telfer said. He concluding “We are in the strongest position we have ever been, we aspire to be the best community radio station in Australia”.

Treasure John Fraser described the financial position as ‘steady as she goes’. He said, “We are not just a community radio station, we are a business that happens to run a community station,” adding we are in a good financial position to bring the best radio station to the Peninsula.

Brendon Telfer was honoured to receive the RPP FM Life Membership Award and joins a long list of Life Members who have brought the station to where it is today.

Congratulations to all those who received an award and to the many presenters and ‘behind the scenes’ contributors who put in a sterling effort.

Debra Mar Working many years in the corporate world in Melbourne and overseas, Debra found herself in the fashion industry as a designer after studying 3 years at RMIT. She now producers and presenters her own radio program The Breakfast Table every Tuesday 6-9am and writes for a local magazine. With a love of writing and being involved in the community, she has a certain curiosity of what makes people ‘tick’, Debra also writes feature stories and updates details on the RPP FM website.
