The RPP FM program crew packed up their Outside Broadcast Kit and headed down to Somers Primary School in the OB Van to ‘air’ the fun and live entertainment at the annual 2014 Somers Arts Fair.
Arts About program presenters Swanny, John & Cliff kept us amused with their intellect ‘school yard’ banter, interviewing Ross Millens, President of the Somers Primary School.
The Peninsula Run program team, Andy, Johnny and Lofty gave it all with their inhouse humour and wit that always keeps listeners on their toes.
Sunny skies bathed happy crowds at years family fun fair that attracts well-acclaimed local and afar artists to showcase their artwork to be auctioned on the day.
Proud Somers Primary School Principal, David Ingham said this is a community event which provides the opportunity for the community to get together offering a broad interest of artwork for art lovers to purchase.
David also added, “Every year we like to introduce new interests and programs to keep the Arts Fair exciting and this year with the introduction of a Photography program to Year 5 & 6 classes, a competition has been set up for young students to to show their work through a lens.”

The Arts Fair wouldn’t be complete without the famous Totem Poles that had humble beginnings in 2004 with parents and teachers deciding the Poles would be a unique exhibition piece for the auction. They are now sought after pieces of artwork.
Some prominent artists showcased their artwork and Geoff Hook, OAM cartoon signature JEFF who lives on the Peninsula and former editorial cartoonist for The Sun News Pictorial, greeted crowds as he sat under a tree while others watched him at his craft.

Live entertainment delivered a party atmosphere with RPP FM The Breakfast Scoop presenter Pete Smedley MC’d the day.
Yummy food, wine tasting, exhibitions and arts & craft market stalls provided an inspirational backdrop for a thrilling day out.
The success of the Somers Arts Fair over the years is due to the support from the local community including sponsorship from local businesses and artists who generously offer or donate their artwork for the auction and of course the people in the local area who attend, purchase and participate in activities.
The Somers Primary School and Arts Fair Committee would like to express their heartfelt thanks to RPP FM for their very generous support of the Arts Fair and the Somers community. Their presence on the day added to the great atmosphere and success.
