Second week of the final series in the MPFNL hosted a powerful match between Rye Demons & Dromana Tigers at R J Rowley Recreation Reserve in the Nepean Football Netball League on Sunday.

RPP FM Match of the Day live coverage on a splendid Spring day, captured the action of Dromana Tigers, placed second on the finals NFNL ladder against Rye, placed fifth on the ladder.

RPP FM footy commentators Michael ‘Golden Tonsils’ Voss and his co-pilot ‘Bealy’ gave an accurate ‘blow by blow’ rendition of a quality football match from the new RPP FM Broadcast Van with one deserving side scooping the all-important win to proceed to the Preliminary Final next Saturday at Hastings.
In the first quarter Dromana’s tall boy Paul Minchington took ‘what must be’ Mark of the Year but on his way to earth hit the ground awkwardly and called for the trainer.

The first quarter results on the Bendigo Community Bank Scoreboard revealed Rye 3. 5 (23) dominating Dromana 2. 3 (15).

Second quarter tempers flared and a ‘blue’ broke out in front of the goal as Rye took control of the match. Rye worked the ball hard kicking 7 goals to the Tigers 2.

Half time match score on the Bendigo Community Bank Scoreboard Rye 10. 6 (66) convincingly led Dromana 4. 8 (32).

The Demon’s talented Semmel brothers proved hard for the Tigers to tame and Dromana was ‘cruelled’ by a list of injured players going in to the match with not many wins on the Performance Sheet.

In the third quarter displayed on the Bendigo Community Bank Scoreboard Rye 16. 12 (108)  to Dromana 510 (40).

In the final term, Rye players led strongly in all game positions particularly in the mid field to bring the Tigers to their demise on the Bendigo Community Bank Scoreboard:

Rye              19. 14 (128)
Dromana         8. 11 (59)

Rye will advance in the Nepean Football Netball League Preliminary Final next Saturday to play Crib Point in Hastings for a spot in the Grand Final the following Saturday.

Dromana has now bowed out unable to defend their 2013 Nepean Football Netball League Grand Final title.
