Local baseball now being broadcast – details

Through peeps of sun on a cold winters day, Neil Williams, commentator of RPP FM’s program The Ball Game took his commentary team Craig Kernick and Rob Bowen down to Wilsons Road Mornington for their first ever Baseball live coverage on Sunday, 10 August.

Neil, a veteran of the game who played for 50 years and Craig who ‘calls’ games for Melbourne Aces in the ABL and Rob, who loves his baseball and is part of The Ball Game panel, brought the action live as Mornington took on Frankston, the oldest Baseball Club in the district.

The game was celebrating Mornington Baseball Club’s 40th year with a Past Players Day.

Unfortunately for Mornington, the older Club won the day with the final score Frankston 8-6.

Best players for Frankston included veteran pitcher Scott Baillie and all star member Will Keys who won Best Batter of the Day.

Mornington Club Coach Brendan Wilson (ex-minor league player with Anaheim Angels) and Josh Mulherrin who hit a home run in the sixth innings were also listed as best players on the day.

Everyone concerned enjoyed the event with the coverage deemed a success.

Watch this space for the next Baseball live coverage down here on the Peninsula.

If you are a baseball fan or interested in the game, listen every Friday to The Ball Game at 7pm.
