A special evening was held at The Deck in Frankston this week to celebrate the launch of Endota Spa 'The Voice of Frankston’ 2014 competition and RPP FM’s writer/presenter Debra Mar attended the evening to gather information about his year’s competition.
To help celebrate the evening three winners from the inaugural Voice of Frankston 2013 sang and shared experiences after winning their category.
First, 13 year old Belynda who won the Junior Section sang P!nk’s hit Who Knew in perfect pitch and said, “I would like to do work in the theatre.” She has a real future in performing and is currently learning piano and singing in school productions and community festivals with fun-key, a private music studio and founder of The Voice of Frankston. We also saw her new film clip to a song called 'Somewhere in Neverland'.
Second, singer to perform on stage was winner of the Senior Section Mark Peers who performed a Yodeling number and finished with There goes my Everything. He sings with a group of musos in Dromana.
Lastly, Cail Baroni singer/songwriter who scooped first prize in the Adult section last year entertained us with two songs he wrote called When you're Gone and When I'm with You. Cail said, “I have been working really hard since The Voice and have managed to record several tracks with Sony producer Michael D'Arcy in Sydney, as well as write some more music for some up and coming artists.” More details go to https://www.youtube.com/user/cailbaroni and http://www.facebook.com/cailbaroni
Two grand finalist from The Voice of Frankston 2013, Andrea Vincent sang Burn, a Tina Arena song and Gemma Buckley sang ‘The Clown’.
Jenny Wilkinson from fun-key Music Shop in Seaford sees a lot of talent in her classes and realized their was no local platform for performers to be recognized, encouraged and validated, hence The Voice of Frankston was born.
Jenny said, “Whether you are a budding young singer, an aspiring adult performer or a senior with a passion for entertaining, join in and celebrate your talent in our solo artist singing competition.”
