There is a strong Rock ‘n Roll dance movement on the Peninsula that is increasing in popularity. Debra Mar, RPP FM writer and presenter travelled to West Rosebud Bowls Club to uncover what all the fun was at the recent Rosebud Rockers dance.
Walk in the door and the first thing you see are dancers waiting in anticipation to celebrate another fun night of Rockin’ n’ Rollin’.
This social gathering of gentlemen, dressed in two-tone shirts and shiny black patent leather pointy shoes, and ladies, dressed in floral and polka dot full skirts, have one thing in common – they love rock n’ roll.
A 6 piece Rock n’ Roll/Blues band, The Joe Galea Band provided great dance music from the King Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin and The Mavericks.
The dance floor soon filled with dancers swinging to popular rock n’ roll routines including See-Saw, Tummy Tickle, Roll in Cuddle, Single Butterfly & Roll, Washing Machine and Cuddle & Backward Walk.
A wonderful time was had by all with an electrifying energy and atmosphere.
If you would like to be involved in the Rosebud Rockers Dance Club and find out details about class nights and dance events ring Rockers President Norm on 0413 412 689 or Alana on 0400 330 248. Countless fun, delightful people and a wonderful place to socialize and meet new people.
From what Debra witnessed on the dance floor, Rock n’ roll is here to stay!
