“You ask me why I do not write something…I think one's feelings waste themselves in words, they ought all to be distilled into actions and into actions which bring results.”
The qualified and experienced staff at My Health Carers (MHC) has certainly adopted the Florence Nightingale attitude when it comes to taking care of the elderly and disabled. Their philosophy is to enable people to live in their homes for longer and in comfort with additional support and assistance.
In 2000, Melissa Gleeson, founder of My Health Carers visualised a business on the Peninsula that would provide a personalised service that assisted in helping the elderly and disabled to remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. With that, My Health Carers was born.
Gleeson recognised the potential the brand had to help those in the community and was keen to take MHC to the next level by utilising a partnership that increased the ability of MHC to service the community’s needs. Having developed relations previously with Prestige Inhome Care, and its Founder, Nick McDonald, Gleeson felt that Nick and Prestige were the right partners to expand MHC.
The timing was also perfect for Nick, as he was looking for an opportunity to grow the reach of Prestige on the Peninsula by acquiring a business that shared Prestige’s values and also offered premium community care services.
In 2013, Melissa and Nick joined forces. Keeping the My Health Carers branding, the pair now provide the best quality care service on the Peninsula. The partnership also reaches throughout the larger South Eastern region of Melbourne where the percentage of elderly people over the age of 60 is increasing yearly at an exponential rate, due to the longer lives Australians are enjoying.
