RPP FM broadcasts the excitement at Pelican Park Recreation Centre, tells Debra Mar.

RPP FM presenters Bob Phillips & Judy Banks-Phillips packed their Outside Broadcast Kit and microphones and headed down to Pelican Park Recreation Centre to help celebrate their 10th year anniversary on Sunday.

It was an exciting day for locals when Commando Steve from the Biggest Loser TV program took 100 people through their paces with a painful bootcamp style workout.

Judy couldn’t keep her eyes off the Commando’s biceps when she and Bob interviewed him on air. He talked about how to keep fit adding, “A lot of the time it’s only in your head that stops you from pushing through pain and exercising, once you break that thought process, you’ll be hooked on staying fit.”

Bob & Judy had ‘front row seats’ describing the bootcamp scene on air.

Michelle Bridges, also The Biggest Loser Trainer made a special appearance and participated in the workout. She commented that it was a very hard, even for her.

Cerberus Ward Cr David Garnock was interviewed by Bob & Judy and said, “There is so much to enjoy at Pelican Park and today was a testament to the hard work everyone put in to make the day a success.”

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Cr Antonella Celi also had a word on air to Bob & Judy saying, “I’m proud of what people in our community have achieved and to have an event like this on the Peninsula attracting this calibre of ‘celebrities’ is fantastic for Pelican Park and the area.” Mayor Celi added, “The Peninsula has so many activities this weekend with the 2014 Tyabb Air Show, Rosebud Kite Festival and much more, there is something for everyone.”

Between 12pm and 2pm RPP FM presenters Dennis Gist of the Wednesday Drive program and Barb Kuhl of the Kool Country program continued the outside broadcast detailing the action beside the pool when Nicole Livingstone conducted swimming lessons. Dennis and Barb interviewed Nicole who said, “It’s a great opportunity to be here to teach children swimming skills which are important for mental developement and co-ordination.” She then presented a motivation talk to the crowd.

Congratulations to Pelican Park on their 10th Anniversary and providing a wonderful venue for the community to come and enjoy the great facilities to help stay fit and healthy.

On behalf of the RPP FM Management Team, we thank Brooke, Rosemary and others from the Mornington Peninsula Shire and Pelican Park Recreation Centre for their help and support to make the day memorable.
