The RPP FM team were delighted to be part of the inaugural Baany to Warrna Ngargee – Water to Water Festival held on the weekend bringing all the action via the RPP FM airways.
Crowds gathered to get an insight of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, traditions, music and dance.
Shire Mayor Cr Antonella Celi opened the days proceedings recognizing the Boon Wurrung people and traditional land owners. She spoke passionately about the commitment to promote cross-cultural awareness and bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous people together. She said there is a lot of interest in local communities to look after and respect traditional and contemporary cultures of Indigenous people. A festival such as this is a joyous occasion to celebrate togetherness.
Archie Roach, a local Indigenous and well respected and admired singer/songwriter, performed at the festival with other music artists.
Several RPP FM presenters did a great job broadcasting the action and live entertainment who included Pete Smedley and Ange Robinson of The Breakfast Scoop, Barb Kuhl, host of Kool Country and Mark Mayle, host of Sunday Sessions.
RPP FM management also wish to thank Sally, Swanny, John and the Arts About! program team for their support in the lead up to this fantastic event.
There was everything for the family to engage in such as didgeridoo classes, arts and crafts, music and drumming.
Rab Siddhi, RPP FM’s official photographer who provides great photos for the RPP FM website showed his skills playing the didgeridoo. What a Champ!
Well done to the RPP FM team for an eventful and success day.
