The night was alive with pride and passion as Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Cr Antonella Celi addressed VIP’s and guests at the 2014 Australia Day Launch at iconic Stillwater at Crittenden Friday night.

The Hon. David Morris MP, the Hon. Martin Dixon MP and other dignitaries including Cr Anne Shaw and Cr Bev Colomb were in attendance to show their gratitude and appreciation to sponsors, volunteers, shire staff and committees behind the organization of the 2014 Australia Day festivities which will be held across the Mornington Peninsula next Sunday, 26 January.

The 2014 Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Australia Day Committee members including Gary & Linda of Mt Eliza, Paddy of Hastings, Val of Dromana, Esther of Rosebud, Barry of Rye, Jenny of Sorrento/Portsea and Stephen as the Publicist were also acknowledged for the tireless work to provide a fun and safe community event for all to enjoy.

Australia Day activities for all the family will be held at Mt Eliza, Dromana, Rosebud, Rye, Hastings, Sorrento and finishing off the day in Mornington with the Hillview Quarries Australia Day Street Parade commencing at 5pm and will proceed down Main Street to Mornington Park.

Parade Director Cindy Last advised the audience there is 46 community organisations and services participating in the Parade this year including brass bands, pipes & drums of the 5th/6th Battalion Royal Victorian Regiment, CFA, SES, Guides and Scouts, dancers and more. We thank Cindy for doing ‘above and beyond’ the call of duty and organising this wonderful community spirited procession.

A Flag Raising Ceremony in Mornington Park will be address by Australia Day Ambassador Mr Simon McKeon AO at 6.15pm.

RPP FM will broadcast the street parade live as RPP FM’s outlandish presenter and personality Pete Smedley interviews parade participants as they pass the RPP FM marquee from 5pm onwards down Main Street Mornington.

Don’t miss the Fireworks Display (subject to weather) at Mornington Park 9.15pm – 9.30pm.
