Believed to be one of the oldest vineyards on the Peninsula, the recently renovated Bayview Estate Cellar Door opened it’s doors to the public with local ‘who’s who’ invited to sample local wine and produce and absorb the rustic ambience explains DEBRA MAR

The Mornington Peninsula has just celebrated another wonderful wine and food destination to add to the list of experiences with family and friends. The Bayview Estate Cellar Door (part of The Pig & Whistle Tavern) is now open daily to sample and purchase Bayview Estate and local wines and Mornington Peninsula beers, ciders and produce.

Newly appointed Cellar Door Manager Paul Hudson, a wine connoisseur and ‘foodie’ who spent time in Perth and Margaret River WA, was the most suitable candidate to take you on a journey of sampling local wines and beers with complementary local produce. Paul stands proud behind what is on offer saying, “It’s about giving our customers tastings of local wines including Bayview Estate and Crittenden Estate and boutique beers complemented by local produce.“ The Pig & Whistle are delighted to have the best of the best from the Peninsula on it’s doorstep. “It’s all about promoting local producers which deserves to be recognized.” he added.

The Bayview Estate Cellar Door character is enhanced by a vista of green rolling hills fused beautifully with vines neatly lined up and Peninsula wildlife dropping in. With it’s original concrete floor and wooden walls, the ambiance captures the essence of the region offering the optimum experience in modern rustic décor, adding that certain Je’ne sais quoi?

When you enter the Cellar Door, it’s easy to immediately feel humbled and relaxed with a natural wood bar and backdrop of wine bottle with fashionable rural notations. There is no pretentiousness to this Cellar Door.

Three delicious food platters presented to complement wine and beer include:
A range of local cheeses
A modern ‘take’ on the Ploughman’s Lunch
And Strawberry Jam and Scones married back with a local ‘sticky’.

Owner’s Rob Lawson and his lovely wife Analou took on this exciting project 6 months ago as part of the overall business plan to bring people together for an enjoyable and memorable experience. Rob said, “We wanted to promote the whole Peninsula, showcasing what is on offer here and supporting each other.”

Jo Petrillo Team Marketer of The Pig & Whistle said, “I am excited to have two wonderful food and wine experiences on the same property to offer patrons.”

As a reminder The Pig & Whistle are offering a great Christmas Lunch and a fun family event on 18 January 2014 which include live entertainment with The Australian Queen Tribute Show and Bjorn to be Wild – Abba Tribute Show will perform supported by the talented singer and international performer Analou.
