With that unmistakable pout and distinctive brawny voice spanning over five decades, leather glam Rock Queen Suzie Quatro is Bob & Judy’s special guest this Thursday on RPP FM's program Sugar n’ Spice.
Suzie who broke the barrier to women’s participation in rock music last century will talk candidly about her music, highs and lows of her singing career and why she still loves performing.
At age 6, she was influenced by Elvis Presley who she saw on television. She received formal classical training on piano and self-taught on a bass guitar her father gave her in 1964. She played bass in U.S. TV sitcom Happy Days and liked the dress-sense of Mary Weiss of the Shangri-La’s who wore tight trousers and waistcoat which was the inspiration behind Suzie’s 'Wild One' look.
Rock anthems that still 'pack a punch' on the airways including Can the Can, 48 Crash and Devil Gate Drive are still popular today as they were in the 70’s.
