Peninsula Kids organised a ‘Walk for Daniel’ at Centro Karingal last Friday.

As part of a ‘Day for Daniel’ where activities are run by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation (official page), Peninsula Kids joined forces with Centro Karingal to hold the walk for Daniel.

The aim of the walk was to educate children and families how to Recognise, React and Report danger. The walk also represented the community in-force to stand together to say ‘no’ against violence to children.
The shopping centre was an array of red balloons and ribbons, buntings and posters in shop windows. Three Policemen from Frankston, Tinkerbelle, St Kilda Football Club Mascot and ‘Breadhead’ joined the walk.

Crowds wearing red t-shirts and accessories looked fantastic as they weaved through the shopping centre to complete a 1km walk. After the walk, kids enjoyed free rides on Thomas the Trackless Engine, and local musician Cameron Oates performed. Peninsula Kids spoke to families, handed out DVD’s from the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and kids completed child safety activity sheets.

Peninsula Kids founders Anna & Fiona wanted to get behind the Walk because as Mums, they know the importance of keeping children safe adding, ”What better way to convey a message to the community, was to get onboard with a program such as a ‘Day for Daniel’ and organise a walk.”

Anna and Fiona are also playing an active role, engaging and talking to local Primary Schools to help spread the word.

Peninsula Kids wish to thank the support and generosity of all those who took part in the ‘Walk for Daniel’ event and to Centro Karingal for their contribution to help reach families to keep children safe which made the day a success.
