The Bendigo Bank Ladies Classic Golf Day was held last Friday at the Flinders Golf Club to assist the Dress for Success Mornington Peninsula fundraiser event.

With a registration of 64 ladies, the morning began with a champagne and muffin followed by strong, competitive bidding as ten male ‘Caddies’ including two policemen from Rosebud Police Station were auctioned off to raise funds.

Tee-off was sounded by a starting gun at 9.30am playing under the Ambrose scoring system with beginners most welcome.

After a fun morning on the fairways everyone headed back to the Flinders Golf Club House for lunch with an extra 42 people attending.

Special guest Kristy Hare, a graduate of Pragmatic Training and now happily employed in a childcare job, spoke how Dress for Success Mornington Peninsula provided suitable clothing for job interviews and helped her regain confidence for employment.

This is  just one example how Dress for Success Mornington Peninsula, a not-for-profit organization focuses on women to help rebuild self-confidence after experiencing long-term unemployment though health issues, social, educational or other difficulties to return to work.

A total of $6,200 was raised on the day including $1,000 from the ‘caddie’ auction. Dress for Success Mornington Peninsula Acting President Prue Leggoe, a keen golfer herself, said she was delighted with the response and the generosity of those who attended the event. She added, “The funds raised today will help establish our new boutique in Bayside Shopping Centre in Frankston and provide ongoing support programs for women needing extra help and encouragement in their search for employment.”

Dress for Success Mornington Peninsula are truly grateful to Bendigo Bank for their continued support which ensures the delivery of services to underprivileged girls and women and to Bernadine Geary, Business Banking Manager from Bendigo Bank for her contribution to help make the day a success.

The great news is that Bendigo Bank has established the Ladies Classic Golf Day as an annual event for Dress for Success Mornington Peninsula to mark on your social calendar.
