THIS IS WHAT GRAND FINALS ARE MADE OF

This time last year who would have thought Edi-Asp Eagles would proudly march off with the 2013 Peninsula Football League Premiership Flag when the team finished the 2012 season as wooden spooners!

A crowd of thousands found it hard to contain themselves at Jim’s Test & Tag, RPP FM Match of the Day with the final score on the Turnkey Scoreboard Edi-Asp 13. 15. (93) to Bonbeach Sharks 12. 14. (86).

Bonbeach at three quarter time were 30 points up on Edi-Asp and became complacent thinking they had the flag insight. Towards the end of the last quarter the Eagles widened their wing span kicking the last 6 goals and 4 points to the Sharks 4 points.

Eagles player Jeremy Heys kicked 3 goals in the last quarter to put Edi-Asp in the lead taking out the flag by 7 points.

The Sharks tried to sink their teeth back into the match but couldn’t answer the Eagles clean disposal of the ball and smart play in the forward line.

RPP FM Best on Ground, courtesy of Turnkey Homes was awarded to Edi-Asp top player, Tim Mavric who kicked the goal in the last quarter that put the Eagles in front for the first time in the match by 4 points.

RPP FM commentators Toe Punt Kelly and brother Short Pass, Michael ‘Vossy’ Voss and guest Interleague & Pines Coach Steve Ryan were sitting on the edge of their seats not believing what they were seeing as they belted the exciting action down the microphone. Nat Casterton was on the boundary conducting live crosses to the boys in the commentatory box speaking with Eagles Coach Troy Shannon and other football VIPs.

Next Saturday, 21 September commencing at 2.30pm, Vossy and Brad ‘Tangles’ Kingsbury travel to Pakenham Recreation Reserve to call the action of the 2013 Casey Cardinia Football League Grand Final between Narre Warren Magpies and Cranbourne Eagles.

The RPP FM Management and Committee Members wish to thank everyone concerned who brought the 2013 RPP FM Match of the Day live every week including Matt – Production and Rab – RPP FM official photographer who photographs Best on Ground.

This Monday morning after the 7.30 news on RPP FM’s Breakfast with Johnno & Marzy, Toe Punt Kelly reports on the Peninsula League Grand Final on Monday Morning Wrap-up.
