A long, wet Jim’s Test & Tag Match of the Day, voiced by the RPP FM commentary team, Toey and Short Pass was more like a grass surfing competition than a game of local football with an embarrassing final score relieving shocking play by the Navy Blue Buds.
The grief-stricken Buds couldn’t contest the ‘paw power’ of the Tigers with the score resembling a train wreck on the Rye & District / Dromana Bendigo Community Bank scoreboard – Dromana 19. 18. (132) to Rosebud 5. 3. (33).
The Tigers went in to the fourth quarter with a 75 point lead over The Buds, stretching the margin by 99 points on the final siren. The 27 minute last quarter saw the Tigers kick 4 goals, 1 point to The Buds 1 point. Not the expected performance of a team sitting fourth on the Nepean League ladder.
In the third quarter Dromana lost team member Christian Ongarello from the ground with concussion but that didn’t the stop the Tigers continuing to play a solid game.
Gary Sanford, Branch Manager of Rye & District / Dromana Bendigo Community Bank was interviewed by Toe Punt and Short Pass at half time thanking local communities for their support, enabling the bank this year to ‘give back’ to the community to the tune of $500,000.
RPP FM Best on Ground, courtesy of Pest Free was awarded to first year Tigers player from Mt Eliza FC, Daniel Gormley who received the golden Logie for his high-class performance.
