All the baby boomers and ‘young at heart’ who grew up glued to the black and white TV set, are in for a real treat this Thursday on the RPP FM Sugar n’ Spice program.

Hosts Bob Phillips and Judy Banks-Phillips will feature the first run of an hour radio special exclusive to RPP FM as a tribute to Australia’s best known ventriloquist RON BLASKETT. The special was produced by long term colleague and former Manager MR BOB PHILLIPS.

Now in his 90’s, Ron reflects on his early days in vaudeville and radio, and being the very first variety artist on GTV Channel Nine (along with his cheeky partner GERRY GEE), performing in the US and  entertaining American and Australian troops in Vietnam. He worked along side ‘The King’, GRAHAM KENNEDY and speaks of his memories of THE TARAX SHOW and early TV pantomimes.

Celebrities BERT NEWTON and DENISE DRYSDALE also talk about this legendary entertainer.

This special will be followed by THE GRAHAM KENNEDY STORY, another RPP FM EXCLUSIVE.

This is radio at it’s best.

Don’t miss this week’s Sugar n’ Spice program this Thursday 20 June at 9am – EXCLUSIVE to RPP FM, your voice on the Peninsula.
