You can’t go past your friendly butcher for a ”how are you today love?” as soon as you walk in the door. It’s part of the fabric our society has been made up for generations.
Kevin and his team at Eliza Meats offer old fashion service, and as the front man of the family business says, “We say yes, when others say no with a focus to please the customer.”
Eliza Meats has an extensive range of choice cut Australian and local meats, and now it’s winter they offer all the ‘slow meat’ cuts to satisfy any gourmet cook. Traditional and gourmet sausages are made on the premises with a wide range of gluten free products.
Kevin has seen a lot of cooking trends come and go and with a new generation of celebrity chefs on TV he says, “Many cheap cuts of meats are coming in to vogue with a surge for pork belly and interesting and innovative cuts in demand.”
He has been in the business over 52 years and convincing explains with passion in his voice, “I still love my work and would do it for nothing.”
His loyal and dedicated staff (much like his customers) also love their work and two of his apprentices won Apprentice of the Year.
Kevin and his business is a keen supporter of community based organisations and clubs with involvement in the Lions Club, local bowls, scouts, local football and the like, and local community radio RPP FM.
This year Eliza Meats raised $4,300 for Beyond Blue by selling calendars of Kevin and his staff photographed nude and there is a letter of thank you from Jeff Kennett, Chairman of Beyond Blue proudly displayed in his shop.
