The next RPP FM Sunday Sessions program on 19 May 2013 at midday, Glenn Allen, guitarist of Goofyfooter will present his Radio Documentary Special including music from the band recently recorded in the RPP FM’s BlueScope Performance Studio.
As a writer and performer, Glenn is proud to admit he is a Goofyfooter for more than one reason. He is the founder of ‘surfy’ rock instrumental band Goofyfooter. With a past career in I.T. at a large company, he used his love of music and photography as his creative outlet.
The word Goofyfooter is a term to describe a surfboard rider who stands with their right foot forward instead of their left foot forward.
In 2009, Glenn was a solo act, strumming his guitar in a humble studio in Rosebud where he wrote his first album, Caught in the Rip inspired by Australian places and themes. It was his Mastering Engineer who suggested he start a band and the rest is fossilised in history.
With a four- member band including Glenn, Goofyfooter is definitely not your traditional surf band. Their sound is often described as an eclectic fusion of big acoustic guitars, loads of reverb and tremolo chipped in with occasional notes of a ‘cheesy’ organ. The band possesses an intuitive sensibility that touch the souls of people who resonate with places such as a deserted beach at sunrise, a night around an open fire or the Kombi trek along a corrugated gravel road. The band also appeals to different age groups because everyone finds a personal connection to the music. It truly is storytelling without words.
